National Student Competition

IAFP National Student Competition

The Institute of Advanced Financial Planners is holding a competition for undergraduate students who are studying towards a career in finance. They will be answering the question, “Does Gen Y See Money & Financial Security Differently?”

The winner of this competition will be given the opportunity to present their winning submission at Symposium 2016 in Richmond, BC this September.

If you attended Symposium 2015 in Niagara Falls, you already know Bryce Cross, Sam Dundas and Kyle MacLean. You probably even appeared in the background of the selfie they took to start off their presentation!

The positive feedback from audience members was enormous. In fact, the students’ presentation was so successful, we decided to hold a national competition to see what else they could teach us!

This experience is a win for everyone involved.

For the students - They get to experience the rigors of seminar development and presentation to a demanding professional audience. They also get important net-working opportunities to explore internship and career opportunities in the financial planning industry.

For our members - The opportunity to look into the minds of your future clients. How do they think? How do they interact? How do they influence their parents; your current clients! Perhaps these could even be your future employees.

For the IAFP - The opportunity to “pay if forward” by helping the next generation explore the satisfying and rewarding profession of financial planning and to ultimately attract new members to the profession.

Dalhousie University has already entered the competition but this year they will have some tough competition from schools like UBC and Douglas College. Only the best of the best will be presenting at the Symposium. Who will it be?
