Each year, the Institute of Advanced Financial Planners hosts a Symposium for its members. In 2010, for the first time, the Symposium was opened to non-members. We invite non-members to join us again in 2011.
The IAFP’s ninth annual Symposium will take place in downtown Toronto on Thursday, October 13th to Saturday, October 15th. As usual there will be an optional Welcome Reception on the evening of Wednesday, October 12th. The Symposium will be held at the Hyatt Regency Toronto on King. Delegates will be informed how to obtain the $189 per night rate at the Hyatt when they register for this event.
The IAFP Symposium has consistently provided a rare opportunity to meet truly advanced financial planners, and to study technical subjects related to financial planning at an advanced level. Members’ rates to attend the Symposium is $750 (plus tax) with an Early Bird rate of $650 prior to August 15th. Register here. Non-Member rates are $895 or $795 (plus tax) for Early Birds who register prior to August 15th. Non-Member rates include a $150 credit towards (optional) application for Associate Membership.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and interact with other advanced planners!
This year’s Symposium theme is All in the Family: When Retirement Plans Go Awry. Even the best laid plans can go awry due to unexpected and life-altering events.
Our case study will introduce you to Archie and Edith, who have separated after 35 years of marriage. Edith realizes that her widowed mother may no longer be able to remain on her own. One of their daughters is trying to find her way in life. The full case study is now posted in the “Related Downloads” section of this webpage.
Join us for an elegant evening of fine dining and live entertainment at the Hyatt Regency. Tickets for this optional evening event are $100 plus tax.
While the IAFP has no say in the content of adjacent courses, the subjects covered can often complement our Symposium topics. IAFP Members also welcome the opportunity to earn more CE credits, the special discounts and the travel convenience of back-to-back events.
Symposium Delegates can obtain a 20% discount on the Financial Divorce Specialist (FDS) designation course being offered in Toronto immediately after the IAFP Symposium ends Saturday afternoon. This 30 CE credit course is led by R.F.P. Linda Cartier, who will also be speaking at the Symposium. For complete information, visit the Academy of Financial Divorce Specialists.
