The 13th Annual Symposium of the Institute of Advanced Financial Planners (IAFP) was held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, September 30th to October 3rd, 2015. It was one of the highest attended. The theme was The Trusted Advisor and our Symposium Committee, Peggy Cameron, John Burns, John Hope and John Klaas, did an outstanding job of assembling a diverse group of speakers. The fantastic line up featured Linda Nazareth, Jessica Lyle, Lori Duffy, Garth Turner and top students from Dalhousie’s Rowe School of Business. The second day of the Symposium started with a panel discussion on Compensation “The Elephant in the Room”. Our 3rd Annual Advanced Education Day saw the attendance double again over last year, almost all of whom plan on attending again next year. Participants had the opportunity to spend valuable time with various sponsors benefiting directly from their educational expertise within a more interactive environment. The Gala dinner and dance was held at the Hilton Hotel. After the dinner we enjoyed the dessert with a Historian Speaker who shared interesting stories about the Niagara Falls area. Following the dessert, Sandy and the Midnights played fantastic dance music that kept many out on the dance floor for most of the evening!
