This prestigious national award celebrates ethical client-focused advice and recognizes innovation, impact, and technical expertise in financial planning. Each finalist will also receive a written critique from the distinguished panel of judges, helping them evaluate their growth in the field.

Who Can Enter?

The 2026 Financial Planning Awards are open to financial planning professionals across Canada who:

  • Hold a recognized designation (QAFP, CFP, or R.F.P.)
  • Demonstrate excellence in financial planning strategies
  • Have positively impacted clients or the industry
  • Uphold the highest professional and ethical standards

Submission Requirements

To enter, applicants must be prepared to submit:

  • A detailed, redacted financial plan that showcases their expertise in client-focused, ethical planning
  • Supporting Documents – Any relevant materials, such as financial projections, reports, or client testimonials, that showcase your expertise
  • Professional Statement – A short personal statement (250–500 words) on your approach to financial planning and why your work deserves recognition
  • References (Optional but Recommended) – Letters of support from clients, colleagues, or industry peers
  • A $50 Registration Fee

  • January 5 — Registration Opens
  • January 23 — Registration Closes & First Submission Due
  • February 4 — Beginning of Phase 2 Plan Submissions
  • February 20 — Plan Submission Closes and Judging Begins
  • June 29 — Winner Announced
  • September 23-26 — Winner Attends IAFP Symposium and Receives Award
